My little princess

Anyone who knows Emmy, knows that she has an obsession with her hair. (Or lack of it) She is always wandering around with a shirt, jacket, blanket, towel...you name it, draped on her noggin. So we purchased a hair weave set, and put it on her. It is HILARIOUS! And even better? She loves it. She has been walking with a bounce so she can feel it, and also flipping it over her shoulder. What a girl.
She wasn't very happy with us bugging her while she had styling on her mind. It looks a bit crazy huh?Well....she was not letting her 'hair' out of her sight. She had to take it to bed with her. I had to sneak a peek!
Someday Emmy........someday you will grow hair. I promise.

Perfect weekends!

We had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. We were able to sneak to Brent's Family cabin at Mammoth Creek, on Friday and Saturday. It is always so peaceful up there, everything goes in slow motion, and the kids are so entertained. Watched movies, ate burgers, and watched the adopted chipmunks. We took my mom, and since she left, Emmy has been lamenting that she misses her Greemah. Poor baby!
We were also able to head to Zion for an afternoon of hiking with the kids. Mitch and Gaona kept Em, and so we hit the harder trail. It really was Hayley's first hike, and I must say that she did incredibly well. She is in better shape than anyone else too.Just about ready to head up the Emerald Pool Hike in Zion.Such a handsome guy! He is growing too fast, and I am in complete denial that he is turning 11 in just 2 weeks. He is so much fun to be with, and kept me on my toes.At the middle pools, there were the tiniest tadpoles I've ever seen. We spent some time trying to catch them, which was harder than you would think, 'cuz those little suckers just slide right back out. I finally caught one here, and as you can see......Hayley is so excited. How silly! At the last minute, we decided we could all clomp the rest of the way to the top of the pool trail, (It was another mile) and were so happy that we did. It was a quiet and shady place to stop and collect our thoughts, and to let the kids roam and splash in the water. On the way down, there is the most gigantic rock that the trail meanders around. Here I thought I was getting a great moment on film, and I guess it just needed to be a goofy picture. Don't they know their faces can freeze that way?
Afterward, we set off to eat at our favorite Springdale haunt, The Zion Pizza-Noodle Company, And met up with Brent's parents too. (Happy Birthday Gaona!!)Emmy found this bench at a local shop that sold chimes. We had to steal a shot. The whole front of the store had any size you could think of, and some were even as tall as me. She adored playing with them, and darnit-all if she doesn't look so stinking cute. Gotta get more of that silly grin!

I just loved having a weekend to play with the family, and not have anything to overwhelming to plan. It was so beautiful up the mountain, and also in the warm heat of Zion.
Thanks to my family for the wonderful memories.! Love you all!

Emmy had her very first haircut today. She doesn't have a lot, but she was starting to look scruffy with all it's various lengths. So here we go.....She was chatting away with Lindsey when we started. No Worries..... . . .until the cape appeared. She did not enjoy it at all..but tried to take it in stride. Good girl! She was busy talking about the treat she was promised after her haircut. Treats make anything worrisome, seem better. What a darling shot. Sweet Lindsey taking Emmy for a popsicle. And the big payoff. Wahoo! Em gets a treat, and I get a daughter who hopefully won't comb her hair with her fork. (and yes, food is usually attached to said fork)

Thanks Lindsey, your the best!

Ending

The end of the school year has snuck up on me. Brent and I were reminiscing about summertime break, he still gets excited it is here. I think I stress out because it means my kiddies are at daycare longer. I am lucky to have a amazing babysitter. (Yea Renae!)

With the end of the year, so come the programs. We were so excited to be able to see Hunter perform the Violin in his school's orchestra. It was an awesome performance, and we are so proud of Hunt! Way to play buddy!
Hayley also had graduation from Kindergarten. She will be full time next year, and I can hardly stand it. She is my buddy and helper. I will surely miss her.Hayley and her wonderful teacher Mrs. Ekker. Hayley loved her, and was always at the top of her class. She is such a pleaser!Hayley is so beautiful inside and out. We are so lucky to have her!Outside with her buddy Koryn. These are two peas in a pod, and have such a good time playing.
Hay is so outgoing and has many great friends. You can't help but love her!

Hayley has been taking Ballet this year, and had her recital tonight. Unfortunately during her performance, something was messed up, and she never made it on stage. It was the only dance she was in too, so we were very disappointed. She rocked the rehearsal though! She already has such pretty form, and tries very hard. She was so excited to get dolled up. She even got some makeup on. What a beaut! What a pretty pair. Emmy couldn't have a better mentor. Love my girls!

Looking forward to summer. Bring It On!!!!

Vacation Finale

I probably need a whole post to even describe the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. We took the scenic route along the ocean to get to our next destination and both wished we had more time to meander around. This view seems that it could be from a post card. It was so beautiful, that any shot would have worked. We wound our way along through neighborhoods, and small sea towns.I asked Brent to pull over so I could get a shot of this manor. I loved it. Every yard looked well tended and perfect. Many from the Island are descended from England and Scotland, so the street, town and many of the names from the Island reflected that. I think Jayne Eyre could just pop out of this home at any time.
From the moment you approached, the scenery at Butchart Gardens was simply perfect. Words cannot describe its lush beauty.Everything in Butchart Gardens was blooming. The trees, bushes and flowers. Especially every kind of tulip you can imagine. We could not have picked a better time to visit. The gardens above were built in an exhausted rock quarry, so it's sides were sloped, and there were many levels to enjoy. Here I am resting during one of Brent's photo shoots. He was a madman with his camera. Between us, I'm sure we've got more than 400 pictures of just the gardens. Winding my way down into the Japanese garden. It was nice and quiet, and shady and was a great place to escape too. This was such a cool tree, all the crazy twists and turns. Even the bark had been overtaken by moss, which grew on everything it possibly could. Brent's inner gardener wept that his yard could not achieve anywhere near the success of things here. Poor guy. It would be pretty hard to live up to anything here.We were so happy that we were able to get some pictures of us together. Most of them, Brent set his camera timer, and poof! No help needed. Way to go honey!Okay, okay......those were the last two pictures of the gardens. But isn't it unbelievable?

These last two pictures are a hoot! Not to mention our trip faves.Does anyone else think this is silly? Brent and I giggled the whole time we walked. Duh!I can't put into words how hilarious this was. Darth, playing his black violin with if you notice, his light saber. He had somehow cut it out so that his bow fit inside. Also see the guy head banging? He requested a little Black Sabbath song and was going to town, We even caught his hair in motion. The sad thing wasn't that Darth should be embarrassed, but that he sucked. You couldn't make out any tune 'cuz the poor guy was just sawing with his saber. SOOOOOOO FUNNY!
What a great way to end the trip. Nothing as good as a good laugh. This one just lasted a half and hour. We would go in a shop, and then come back out to watch him. Good times, Good times!

Thanks to my mom, and Brent's entire family who kept our kids fed, happy, and saw to their schedules. To be honest, they aren't that excited we are home. Yep, back to the real world for all involved. We appreciate you giving your time so we could have some by ourselves.

V2

After checking out Vancouver for a few days, we headed to Victoria. Deciding to take a Seaplane for our transportation. We were on a 18 passenger plane with 2 pilots, and the cockpit was open, so it was very enlightening to see take-off from another perspective. We were so lucky to experience the amazing views of the area, and make awesome time while we were at it. It only took a 1/2 hour instead of 3, by ferry, to get to our hotel.
Take off and landing was the softest, easiest I have ever seen. It was truly my favorite adventure of the trip!As if the plane ride wasn't enough, as soon as we dropped our luggage off, we were on our way for some exciting Whale Watching. Brent had his mind set on a small 12 man Zodiac, and so we suited up and climbed aboard. We were fortunate to sight a Mother and her 2 sons, playing in Inner Harbor, so close that I could still see our Hotel. It was amazing, and we enjoyed it so very much.
Our Hotel -THE EMPRESS- is smack in the middle of everything in downtown Victoria. We were able to walk everywhere, and the buildings are very beautiful, and the scenery even better. This is the first view of the Hotel, as we came into the Harbor. WOW!One of my favorite pictures. The view of the harbor from our room. We were so happy to have such a wonderful view. After we got to our room, I laid on the window bench, and soaked up the view.I adore this picture. The man who took it for us asked us if we liked each other, and we both laughed and said YES! I think our smiles are perfect. Click on it if you can"t see it too well.
I have been enjoying this time with my sweetheart, and love him very much

Brent's 40th birthday is this weekend, so to celebrate, we are living it up in the Pacific Northwest. Vancouver to be exact. This trip has been in the making for months as a surprise for him, and I am so excited to have him all to myself for 6 days.
It is so incredibly green here, all the plants are thriving, and it is a very busy, bustling city. I had no idea how huge it was. It is set picturesquely on a bay, and the city surrounds it in a horseshoe shape. Huge buildings, and a great city vibe. This view is from our balcony, directly over the shopping district of Robson Street. You can make out the bay in the background up top. Gorgeous. It has been a bit cool, and rainy, but still so nice to be outdoors. It has been a blast to walk up and down the streets. The area is beautiful and the city is so clean.
We also snuck up to Capilano Suspension Bridge. It is 250 feet above the river, and almost 500 feet long. It had such a sway, that was hard to walk on. But the views were unmatched.Brent standing at one end of the Bridge. When we first arrived, It was so busy that you could hardly cross. Most of the people were in and out, but we wandered for hours. The moss grew rampant on almost every surface in the forest. This is seriously only 10 minutes from downtown. Crazy!
There were also pathways, and smaller suspension bridges throughout the trees. It was so fun to wander around the park.I am so lucky to have Brent for my own. I love this guy!I love this picture that Brent snuck of me. I just remember feeling so lucky and content.Silly pictures by the totum poles. Yehaw!

We also went on a bike adventure around Stanley Park. We followed the sea-wall for about seven miles, enjoyed the scenery, air and each other.I couldn't resist a picture in this silly tree.

Thanks to all who helped in the production of this vacation. Love to you all.
